Boeing 737 MAX is the name for the new generation of the middle-haul airplanes of the Boeing 737 family, which is currently being developed by the American aircraft-building corporation Boeing. This generation of planes is gradually replacing Boeing 737NG (Next Generation) airliners, including such models as 737-600, -700, -800, -900.
This regular upgrade of the Boeing 737 family means installation of new more efficient engines CFM International LEAP-1B and some modifications to the fuselage and the wing of the plane. The airliners are fitted with the modern cabin Boeing Sky Interior, which has been the feature of Boeing 737 planes since 2011. In addition to that all planes of the 737 MAX generation get improved winglets called Scimitar.
Originally it was planned to create 3 models of the Boeing 737 MAX planes: 737 MAX 7 (to replace Boeing 737-700), 737 MAX 8 (to replace Boeing 737-800) and 737 MAX 9 (to replace Boeing 737-900). However, during the development process it was decided to construct one more model – a bigger 737 MAX 10, which became the largest airliner in the history of Boeing 737 planes.
The first planes of the baseline model Boeing 737 MAX 8 entered service in 2017. The airliner 737 MAX 9 started operating at the beginning of 2018. Air companies can expect 737 MAX 7 aircraft in 2019, and 737 MAX 10 in 2020.
Also, three Boeing Business Jets have been constructed on the basis of Boeing 737 MAX planes - BBJ MAX 7, BBJ MAX 8 and BBJ MAX 9. The deliveries of these large business jets to airlines started in 2018.
