Being an island state the Philippines have an advanced air service. There are many good airlines with the rather reasonable prices, especially for before-hand booking. The average price for one-way ticket is approximately 50 USD. Of course, the flights are no longer than one hour, but the tickets are rather salable.
Nevertheless the aviation security is at work – there are two severe examinations – at the air terminal entrance and after checking in. Taking pictures is allowed everywhere. The tourists are posturing against the planes. Even the airport personnel are taking pictures. It’s great that there’s no hysteria about the terrorism though the country is not the most pacific, with it’s own separatists.

Cebu Pacific Air is a good airline with a good fleet. The Airbus 319 produced in 2005 came in for us.

Just after take-off the drawing of prizes started. The steward was asking riddles and the passengers having given the right answers were given souvenirs. It was a pleasant trifle I’ve never come across anywhere else. The food on board is for a fee which is normal for the low-cost airlines.

The further flights from island to island were made on board the small turbo-prop planes. See the details in the next report.
