Promising long-range wide-body airliner of Chinese design. It was originally created as a joint Russian-Chinese project called CR929, for which a joint venture between the Chinese corporation COMAC and the Russian UAC was created.
In 2022, it was announced that the Russian side would withdraw from the project. Further development is being carried out by COMAC Corporation with the intended use of Western engines and avionics. In 2023, the aircraft received a new designation C929.
According to the project, 3 modifications of the new airliner should be created:
C929-500 (shortened fuselage version) - 250 passengers in a 3-class layout, flight range of 14,000 km;
C929-600 (basic version) - 280 passengers in a 3-class layout, flight range of 12,000 km;
C929-700 (extended fuselage version) - 320 passengers in a 3-class layout, flight range of 10,000 km.
The first flight of the CR929 is planned in 2025, deliveries to airlines according to the plan should begin in 2029.
